Just Landed and Ready to Ride the Mechanical Bull — Isaac Johnson at TBP 2025

Isaac Johnson had a plan: hit The Block Party, ride the mechanical bull, then eat a corn dog. In that order. Priorities.

We caught him right at the beginning of his evening — fresh off the road, pizza in hand, eyes on the mechanical bull down the street — and had one of the most fun conversations of the night.

Isaac's been a part of the Springfield community in a genuinely cool way: for two years, he ran a free mobile bike repair pop-up on the streets of downtown Springfield. No appointment. No charge. Just showing up and helping neighbors keep their bikes rolling. That's the kind of thing that doesn't make the news but absolutely makes a neighborhood and helped grow this incredible energy we love about Downtown.

He talked about what draws him to Springfield — the genuine warmth, the multi-generational mix of people, the feeling that this isn't a place trying to be something it's not. And then he went to find that mechanical bull.

We hope he rode it before the corn dog. For his sake.

Recorded live at Springfield's The Block Party 2025, powered by SELCO Community Credit Union.
